Dear colleagues,
I hope my emails finds you well. I am writing to you to inform about TAIEX and Twinning activities in the current circumstances of coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency.
Public health is of paramount importance and the need to protect the well-being and health of all the participants, experts and stakeholders is a key priority.
With this in mind and as a precautionary measure we have postponed all TAIEX events scheduled for March and the first week of April. We will now postpone also TAIEX events planned till the end of April.
My colleagues together with the TAIEX service provider are communicating directly with the concerned institutions, providers and stakeholders. To ensure continuity of TAIEX events we are working on events planned for May and later. We are closely monitoring the situation to adapt activities to the dynamically changing circumstances. It is therefore likely that further postponements may be needed. We will keep you informed about any new developments.
In relation to Twinning EU Delegations are exploring possible solutions to the issues raised. We are working jointly and in co-ordination with our contract and finance services to provide advice promptly under these challenging conditions. Especially, as each question needs to be considered on a case by case basis due to the fact that Twinning projects vary significantly in scope and engage institutions, experts and participants located in different countries. This is why the EU Delegations/ Contracting Authorities are best placed to be the first point of contact, which is in line with their respective role and the provisions specified in the Twinning Manual. Moreover, colleagues in the Delegations may be best informed about the situation and possible restrictions applied in the given country.
